Flower Remedies for Children
The flower remedies are great for helping children develop into the kind and capable people they need to be in
order to achieve good health later on in life, and to deal with the various challenges they face growing up.
If they are ever sick or ill, the flower remedies can be used in the same was as for adults, alongside the treatment
and supervision and approval of a doctor. Simply select the remedies that match the mood the child is presently
in—as this will help them activate their ability to heal—and the dosage is exactly the same as for adults. To
eliminate the alcohol present in the remedies, if desired, follow the steps in the dosage section of this guide, or
simply buy the glycerin-based variety instead.
For big changes in life, such as weaning, starting or changing schools, or puberty, Walnut can help ease the
transition, helping the child to adapt and adjust more quickly. For children who have a hard time being separated
from their parents, remedies such as Mimulus, Walnut, Larch, Red Chestnut, Cerato, Star of Bethlehem, Rock
Rose, or Honeysuckle might be needed. For children who are afraid of things like shadows or trying new foods,
there is Mimulus.
If we accidentally spoil our children, and they become bossy or too demanding as a result, Vine can help. Chicory
is good for if they are too dependent on love and being the center of attention to feel good, and always want to be
waited on or don’t want to contribute their fair share. Should they become hysterical or throw tantrums, or turn
destructive, Cherry Plum and Holly can help, and Star of Bethlehem can help ease the pain of not getting what
they want...and Heather is good if they’re always acting out for attention. Gentian can also help them recover
from disappointments, so as not to get down for too long.
Centaury is good for children who get stressed from always worrying about being good or getting approval from
adults. For children that seem to want to be alone, either when ill or in general, Water Violet can help them to
socialize more. For the death of loved ones or beloved pet animals, Star of Bethlehem and Sweet Chestnut can
help ease the grief and pain they feel, and Honeysuckle might be needed at some point to help them move on.
For shy children, there’s Mimulus, Larch, and Cerato to help them feel confident and avoid being nervous. For
those children that are picked on but can’t stand up for themselves, Centaury and Agrimony are good remedies to
try.
For any trauma in general, Star of Bethlehem or Rescue® Remedy can help your child get over it faster and easier.
For kids who don’t let on when things are bothering them (or fess up to something even when they want to) there
is Agrimony to ease the inner torment they can feel. Holly and Chicory are good for children who get in fights
over toys or attention, or become jealous of a sibling. White Chestnut, Agrimony, or Mimulus are good if they
are worried or troubled about something.
Children can easily be taught what the remedies are for and how this system works. This allows them to take
control of their own health by developing positive mental habits from an early age, and to get whatever help they
feel they need, when they need it.
